Fiberglass wallpaper is made of glass fibers instead of paper or vinyl. For their production, molten glass is stretched into long and thin threads, which are then processed into the special fabric. Finally, the fabric receives a coating, giving the final properties and structure of the fiberglass wallpaper.
The properties of fiberglass wallpaper
Fiberglass wallpaper is considered to be the most durable and stable wall covering on the market, being significantly more stable than classic sawdust and vinyl wallpaper. They are resistant to scratching, tearing, stretching and rotting, moisture, mold and are environmentally friendly. The fabric itself also withstands mechanical loads, chemical damage, is also fire-resistant and flame repellant, depending on the coating and paint. This makes them ideal for highly used areas such as public buildings (hospitals and others), industrial and commercial buildings, areas with high exposure to moisture (kitchens, bathrooms, attics, basements), corridors and staircases, and even for children’s rooms, due to their anti-microbial properties.
They are suitable for reinforcement and to prevent the propagation of more cracks, holes and other surface imperfections. In addition to all its practical properties, fiberglass wallpaper can be repainted many times. Suitable paints are latex, lacquer paints and glosses.

Is fiberglass wallpaper more economical?
Fiberglass wallpaper is significantly more expensive than sawdust, patterned or vinyl wallpaper – you can expect prices of up to €12 per square meter. However, these wallpapers are significantly more durable, can be repainted many times and are easy to clean – they do not require frequent replacement due to damage or wear, which still makes them more economical than other wallpapers.
Installation
When gluing fiberglass wallpaper, as with all others, you must ensure that the surface to which it will be glued is clean, sound, smooth and dry. However, a special fiberglass adhesive is required for their gluing.
